#CONNECT | #SUPPORT | #INSPIRE
As part of the Threads of Time heritage project, Y Sort It played a key role in bringing Clydebank’s history to life through the eyes of its young people. Their involvement went far beyond participation, they demonstrated how empowering young voices can strengthen community identity and create lasting connections between past and present.
Heritage is not just about preserving the past; it’s about making it relevant for future generations. By engaging young people, we ensured that local history is understood, valued, and celebrated in ways that resonate today. This brought fresh perspectives, creativity, and energy to our project, helping to keep traditions alive while inspiring new interpretations. Y Sort-It’s work demonstrates how empowering young voices can strengthen community identity and create lasting connections between past and present.
Graphic Novel Lab
Y Sort It partnered with Magic Torch Comics to produce a graphic novel that tells Clydebank’s story in a fresh and engaging way. Young people contributed ideas, characters, and narratives, blending historical research with imaginative storytelling. This project gave them the chance to develop creative skills while connecting deeply with their local heritage.
The graphic novel launch was a proud moment for Y Sort-It and the wider community. Young people showcased their work, shared their experiences, and demonstrated how heritage projects can empower the next generation.
Threads of Time
Creative Cutting
Working closely with textile artist Chloe Patience, young people explored Clydebank’s cultural heritage, gathering stories and visual motifs that represent the town’s identity. These ideas were transformed into a striking design that became the foundation for the bespoke fabric used throughout the project. This fabric symbolises Clydebank’s resilience and creativity, and Y Sort It’s input ensured that the design reflected authentic community voices.
Clydebank Storytelling
Through design, storytelling, and collaboration, Y Sort It has ensured that Clydebank’s heritage is not only preserved but celebrated in a way that resonates with young people today.
