Thornhill & Closeburn Community Plans

Working with Thornhill Community Council and Nith Valley LEAF Trust we developed two separate community plans for the distinct villages of Thornhill and Closeburn in Dumfries and Galloway. This involved an extensive consultation process in both villages, speaking with community members, local business, community groups plus the local primary and secondary school children. We were able to build a comprehensive picture of the needs and demands of the two communities which helped us to design a range project outlines, some shared and some unique to each village, in order to facilitate the realisation of their aspirations. We subsequently supported the set-up of the Thornhill Station Action Group who are campaigning for the reopening of Thornhill train station, and advised Old School Thornhill who are working to redevelop the disused school building into an innovative entrepreneurial hub.
