Rosemount Development Trust
Rosemount Development Trust are a not-for-profit charity which also supports other organisations to benefit and empower people in Royston, Glasgow. Their subsidiary company Roystonhill Spire & Park Ltd was formed to preserve and maintain an important local landmark, which is now the site of a valuable green space with views across the city, and a public art and heritage project featuring mosaics depicting local history.
Rosemount Business Park provides high quality rental space while supporting the community – it is owned and managed by Rosemount Workspace Ltd. a subsidiary of Rosemount Development Trust.
Royston Community Heritage Art Project
CLS worked with Rosemount Development Trust, two local Primary Schools and Secondary School to access £27,000 from Heritage Lottery to create a series of mosaics reflecting the local history of the area. The mosaics were located in the new Spire Park built in association with the new Roystonhill Community Hub.
Community Development Officer
In 2020 CLS worked with Rosemount Development Trust to identify the need for a new staff members and later in the year we were successful in accessing 3 years funding from the Glasgow Community Fund in excess of £200,000. In 2003 CLS again worked with the Trust to secure a further three years of funding on this occasion from the Scottish Government’s Community Investment Fund.
Glenconner Park Business Plan
CLS carried out a Business Plan in 2021 to consider the future community use and potential asset transfer of some or all of Glenconner Park to Rosemount Development Trust. This large park contains four football pitches, play area, bowling green and open space but has been under used for the last 20 years.
St Rollox Janitor House Options Study
CLS accessed funding from the Architectural Heritage Fund and appointed a Design Team to examine potential future uses and costs associated with the building situated on Royston Road within the perimeter of the local primary school. The results from the Options Study were later used in Regeneration Capital Grant bid to the Scottish Government.
Royston Spire Project
CLS accessed funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Glasgow School of Architects to carry out an oral history of the Spire and Church in tandem with running a lighting and design competition to increase the profile of the building. The building is now lit in the evenings and the oral history record being used by the Royston Heritage Project.
