Glenshellach Growers

A left over, unused piece of ground owned by West Highland Housing Association (WHHA) in Oban, has been transformed into a sheltered accessible community growing space for use by WHHA tenants. This was a community driven initiative which WHHA asked us to support and develop on their behalf. We assisted the interested group of residents to become constituted and arranged a trip for the group to view existing successful community growing projects, prior to agreeing a layout for their site; we then helped them to agree mutually acceptable terms and conditions with WHHA for lease of the site and to procure funding towards the cost of materials for the raised beds which the group built themselves with a little assistance from a local employment training project. Glenshellach Growers are now into production!
