Forgewood Community Centre, Motherwell

Community Links Scotland (CLS) were appointed by Forgewood Housing Co-operative to carry out community consultation and develop a business plan for the community acquisition and development of the existing community centre, in Forgewood, Motherwell. Following Big Lottery Stage 1 Growing Community Assets (GCA) approval, CLS worked with Grant Murray Architects to complete a successful stage 2 GCA for in excess of £1 million; this was matched by a further £1.2 million for all the capital costs of demolition and new build, in addition to covering significant revenue costs in the first four years after completion.

The new Forgewood Community Centre is now being very well used by a variety of community groups.
