Clydebank Housing Association

Clydebank Housing Association is a social housing provider, operating in Clydebank for nearly 40 years with over 1,200 homes and 32 staff. Community Links Scotland has worked with the Association for the last 22 years successfully accessing funding and support for a variety of projects.

CHA Power Limited

CHA Power Limited (CHAP) is a wholly owned subsidiary company set up by Clydebank Housing Association in 2005 to provide energy-efficient and affordable heat and hot water to the residents of 7 muti storey blocks at Radnor Park, Clydebank. CLS accessed a variety of funding including a large amount of European funding to cover the start up costs of construction a community based combined heat and power facility.

The gas-fired engines at the power station, located next to the flats, provide 370 2-bedroom flats with continuous heating and hot water for a fixed price per week. The CHA Power plant generates electricity and, as a by-product, heat is produced and used to provide the heat and hot water to tenants whilst the electricity is sold back to the National Grid.

Clydebank Social Economy Centre

The Social Economy Centre (SEC) was developed by CHA to provide quality, inclusive accommodation for social economy, voluntary sector and community businesses. The building was formally a Bank of Scotland office and CLS carried out a Business Plan before accessing funding to both acquire the building and adapt/upgrade it for future use. The SEC, situated at 63 Kilbowie Road, is now a refurbished 5,000ft² building which offers office, boardroom and meeting facilities for rent. Located in the centre of Clydebank it was opened in 2005. The project was funded by CHA, European Regional Development Funds, the Scottish Government and NHS Greater Glasgow.

Centre 81

CLS working with CHA and local partners helped access funding for a new community facility, Centre81 in Whitecrook. Costing over £2.8 million and largely funded with grants from Europe (ERSF), the Scottish Government (Wider Role) and a number of other agencies. Centre81 opened to the public in early May 2008.

The Centre offers a range of activities for all ages, in addition to office space, a franchised onsite café, Café81, a low cost gym, Gym81, rooms for hire, an IT Suite, a community garden, community gardener offering advice, raised bed area, and bike mechanic. Throughout the past 16 years CLS has provided support through funding applications to ensure the facility maximises its potential.
