Mindful Moments

As part of the Threads of Time project, Mindful Moments brought a unique perspective to Clydebank’s story, combining creativity with lived experience to celebrate the town’s industrial heritage and the journeys of its people.

Mindful Moments support women who have faced isolation, mental health challenges or trauma. By engaging them in heritage and creative activities, Threads of Time offered a safe space to build confidence, learn new skills, and connect with community history. Their participation demonstrates how heritage projects can promote wellbeing and inclusion while preserving local stories.

Digital Storytelling - Family Origins

Three members shared deeply personal stories about how their families arrived in Clydebank, whether through wartime relocation, industrial employment opportunities, or migration for a better life. These reels explore:

  • The challenges of settling in a new town.

  • The pride in contributing to Clydebank’s industrial growth.

  • The sense of identity and belonging that has endured across generations.

These narratives add a human dimension to the Threads of Time project, connecting heritage with lived experience and ensuring these stories are not lost.

Digital Development Support

To bring these stories to life, the groups received specialist digital training and support, helping participants learn skills in research and IT and creating engaging social media content. With dedicated support they ensured that the video reels were not only creative but professionally presented, giving participants confidence in using digital tools and opening up new opportunities for future projects.

Creative Trips

Members of Mindful Moments and Healthy Pathways took part in a series of creative outreach sessions. Highlights included:

  • A visit to the Burrell Collection, where they explored textile exhibits and learned how fabrics can tell stories across cultures and generations.

  • A trip to the Glasgow School of Art’s Centre for Advanced Textiles (CAT), offering insight into contemporary textile design and digital printing techniques.

These experiences enriched their understanding of heritage and design, inspiring ideas for their own fabric patterns and artwork

Designing for Industry

Working with the theme of industry Mindful Moments reflected on Clydebank’s proud history of shipbuilding, engineering and manufacturing. This theme inspired their fabric design, developed through workshops with textile artist Chloe Patience, where participants created mood boards, explored colour palettes, and experimented with patterns. These designs were combined into the bespoke ‘Bankie Spirit’ fabric that will feature in the Threads of Time exhibition.

Mindful Moments Stories

The work of Mindful Moments ensured that personal stories of migration, resilience, and belonging are woven into the town’s cultural narrative.
