About Us

Community Links Scotland is a company limited by guarantee and not having share capital company no. 229753 and a recognised charitable company no. SC032934

Community Links Scotland (CLS) is a charitable, not for profit, voluntary organisation established by a Forum of Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) in 2002. We provide regeneration consultancy services for housing associations and not for profit independent voluntary and community groups throughout Scotland.

We build strong, trusting relationships with our clients, providing information, support and practical assistance at various stages of a client’s idea.

Funding

CLS are funded through a combination of client membership fees, and external consultancy work. We use a full cost recovery system to identify our charge out rate at a non profit distributing level.

Management Board

We have an elected board of five directors comprising management committee members and community representatives from amongst our client organisations.

History

Community Links Scotland (CLS) was established in 2002 following an 18 month feasibility study period which itself followed on from the introduction of Wider Action by Scottish Homes in 2000. West Dunbartonshire Voluntary Housing Forum established Community Links West Dunbartonshire to work with West Dunbartonshire RSLs but ongoing expansion of activity areas meant a change of name in 2005 to Community Links Scotland.

CLS were established where RSLs and community groups considered they could not take on a regeneration project due to real or perceived barriers of no information, no time, no staff or no funding.

While supporting RSLs with their Community Regeneration programmes continues to be a core priority of our work, over the last 21 years our work has expanded to include community groups, community associations and voluntary organisations.
