Streetlinks have a range of jobs and tasks that volunteers can become involved in – depending on what you’re interested in we can match your interest/skills to a range of opportunities which include:

 

DETACHED YOUTH WORK (STREETWORK)

Working in pairs with an experienced youth worker walking round an area and talking to young people on the street or where they hang out and gather and pass information on to them.

 

OUTREACH YOUTH WORK

Same as Detached Youth Work (Streetwork) only approach young people about coming into an activity or a building to take part in an event.

 

SPORTS SESSIONS WITH YOUNG PEOPLE/SPORTS COACHING EXPERIENCE

Helping staff set up, run and clear away sports sessions. Learn how to use all the sports equipment/resources including the mobile sports pitch, mobile climbing wall, sports equipment, giant games and camping equipment.

 

CENTRE BASED YOUTH WORK

(including drop-ins and groupwork)
Helping staff set up, run and deliver activity sessions, clear away the resources in buildings including youth drop-ins, group work sessions and other team activities.

 

ADMINISTRATION AND PREPARATION

Opportunity to use or learn IT skills, complete electronically and manually all appropriate paperwork including recordings and monitoring processes relevant to maintaining Streetlinks systems. Volunteers will learn how to complete Streetlinks paperwork including monitoring forms and risk assessments and gain understanding of how we measure our targets and outcomes. Use and learn a varied amount of skills in inputting data, completing recording forms and creating spreadsheets if required. Use of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint are opportunities you can expect to experience if you’re interested in this area.

 

FUNDING

Identify potential sources of funding and assist in the formation of funding bids. Opportunity to source potential funders and, if you wish, experience of completing funding applications.

 

As a volunteer you will learn how to use your skills when working with young people and learn new skills from Streetlinks staff and also learn to be a member of a team and gain understanding of the value of team working.
