Volunteers Help at Helensburgh and Lomond Highland Games

The Helensburgh and Lomond Highland Games was a fantastic start to Volunteers Week on the 1st June 2013.

Volunteers get ready for Helensburgh GamesTwenty two volunteers aged between 11 and 55+ donated their time to help out with the games on the day. The day started for some at half past seven and went on untill half past five. Volunteers brighten up visitors' nailsA long day which saw an overall combined total of 200 volunteering hours gifted by a talented and very enthusiastic bunch of people. We had a few new starts as well as some more experienced volunteers on the day and each of them did fantastically well despite the rain downpours very hour or so. Thankfully it didn’t dampen their spirits!  Beat the Goalie, nail bar, street games and the climbing wall were all fully utilised by the members of the public who attended the games.

Successful days like these are a terrific way of getting all the volunteers together where they get the opportunity to meet each other and interact with the public trying out their existing skills as well as learning new skills on the day. Successful days like these help to harness high levels of energy and go a long way towards increasing the self confidence and the incredible sense of achievement for the volunteers. CLS utilise days like these to ensure that all volunteers are trained in using the resources such as the climbing wall and the street games.

A very successful day was had by all! And a great big thank you to all who made it happen.
