Transform for Work awarded £250,000 from the Big Lottery

Through support and development from ourselves, Knowes Housing Association has been awarded £249,250 through the Big Lottery Community Spaces Fund. This fund supports communities to become more involved in and to take responsibility for communal spaces and places.

The Watchmeal Crescent – Transform for Work project, will transform a currently neglected communal space into a vibrant community garden that provides local residents with space to both relax and interact and provides local young people with dedicated play zones that encourages them to use their imagination and develop informal play activities.

In addition to the physical transformation, the project will provided waged employment for a number of local unemployed residents, who will be given the opportunity to participate within a six month environmental training and employability initiative.
