Second Streetlinks Activate Course Ready to Begin

After the success of running the our first Activate Course in partnership with University of Glasgow, Streetlinks will be running a second Activate Course training event.  This is a foundation course in community development  which helps build experience of new and existing participating volunteers.

The course runs for  40 hours within a group work setting and 10 hours conducting a community investigation.

The key learning  concepts include:

  • What is community work?
  • Values and principles of community work/Community Learning and Development
  • Power and participation (including influencing decision-makers)
  • Local – global issues

Practice approaches:

  • Learning for change
  • Identifying needs
  • Group work
  • Dealing with conflict
  • Evaluation

This will run from August – November.  If you are interested  there are 16  places available for local people aged 15-65 and returns great investment for staff and volunteers alike. Please contact janette@comlinks.org.uk to express your interest or to ask any questions.
