Community Action Plan for Dunbeg

We are nearing completion of the draft Community Action Plan for Dunbeg, a small village north of Oban, commissioned by West Highland Housing Association (WHHA) with the agreement of Dunbeg Development Group. So far some clear themes are emerging including a very strong need for a community centre which can house all the other activities and services highlighted by residents in the consultation process.

Other projects people would like to see are the development of outdoor and indoor sports facilities including the restoration of a former kickabout area, a lunch club and befriending scheme for older people, more activities for young people in the village, a village tidy up, more seating and more litter bins. The primary school children were particularly keen on some additional more exciting play items, above all a zip slide. The children also agreed with other residents that a stop needs to be put to speeding through the village. We are trying to pull these and more ideas together into tangible projects some of which can be taken forward by the local community and WHHA in the near future subject to funding and local drive.
