Activate Course in Community Development Starting Soon

Community Links Scotland are ready to run the second Activate course in partnership with the University of Glasgow. The foundation course in community development is aimed at people already working in the community or volunteers wishing to learn about community work. The completion of the course will guarantee the participants an interview for the BA Community Development course at the University of Glasgow.

This year’s Activate course targets rural areas of Arrochar, Cove and Kilcreggan, Garelochhead and Rosneath and will take place in community centres and village halls in the areas from early November 2012 to January 2013.

Key learning concepts include values and principles of community work, equality and anti-discrimination, power and participation and local and global issues. The course will last for 50 hours within a group setting with a 10 hour community investigation session.

The course is open to people from 14 year up to 65 who are registered for ILA Scotland and who are committed to attending the 50 hour programme.

For more information about the course or to register, please contact Janette Devlin on janette@comlinks.org.uk or 0141 952 4382 or Michelle McDonald or Shona Smith at Route 81 Garelochhead on office@route81.org.uk or 0143 681 0307.
