Community Links Scotland

2015 – present

Activate is a foundation course in community development delivered by CLS aimed at people working, volunteering or interested in working in the community. The course, delivered in partnership with the University of Glasgow, is a 50 hour programme aimed at giving people who are active in their communities an opportunity to reflect on what they do and why they do it.

The course encourages participants to widen their perspectives on the political, environmental and social spheres while developing their capacity to utilise personal knowledge of local conditions and situations to identify what change is needed and what will be acceptable within their community. We have to date supported more than 100 people to complete the course and achieve a recognised qualification in community development. CLS have also carried out the course on three occasions within H.M. Prison Greenock where it has been successfully delivered to men only, women only and also to a mixed group.
